One of the most common questions we receive is: “When is the best weather in the Maldives?” And honestly? The Maldives is beautiful all year round. Every season has its own atmosphere, colors of the ocean, and rhythm of island life.

Unlike many other destinations, don’t expect four traditional seasons here. The Maldives have a tropical climate — warm weather, high humidity, and temperatures around 28–32 °C almost every day of the year.
November to April
This period is considered the main season. The ocean is usually calmer, there is less rain, and the days are often sunny with bright blue skies. These are the months when the Maldives look exactly like you imagine from photos — turquoise ocean, white sand, and endless sunsets.
This is the ideal season for:
snorkeling and boat trips
calmer ocean conditions
sunbathing and beach days
romantic stays
May to October
During these months, the monsoon season arrives. However, this does not mean it rains all day. In the Maldives, rain often comes in short tropical showers followed by sunshine again shortly after.
The islands have a completely different atmosphere during this season — more greenery, dramatic skies, a stronger ocean, and a slower pace of life.

The ocean stays around 28 °C throughout the year, making swimming enjoyable in every season.
UV and sun
The sun in the Maldives is very strong, even on cloudy days. We recommend using a high-quality SPF 50+ sunscreen, wearing light clothing, and staying hydrated.
So, when is the best time to visit?
If you are looking for the most stable weather and calm ocean conditions, we recommend visiting between November and April.
However, if you prefer a more authentic atmosphere, fewer people, and don’t mind an occasional tropical rain shower, the Maldives can be just as beautiful during the summer months.
Personally, my favorite time is when the ocean is calm, the air is warm, and the evenings end with long sunsets on the beach. 🤍
